In 2002 a young group consisting of the talented female singers
Christina, Engelina and Ida became known
to the Danish public by the name of "Sha Li Mar". As a replacement for "Zindy Kuku Boogaloo",
the trio continued to provide the music on the primetime TV entertainment show "Venner for livet" (Friends forever)
on TV2.
Named after the mystical flower garden at Taj Mahal, Shalimar proved, that this girlgroup was not just a "group of random girls". They blew the audience away by singing classic pop and rock songs with powerful vocals, great harmonies and a touch of class.
All three girls already had gained experience in the music industry before they started the band. Christina became famous as a member of "You Know Who", Engelina started as a jazz singer and travelled the world with DJ Encore, and Ida Corr was a big part of the Danish music scene as a background singer for national artists such as Gnags, King Kane and Mark Linn.
Contrary to what you might believe, Sha Li Mar were already friends. It was the "Venner for livet" live band, who approached them to do this project.
After the success on Venner for livet Sha Li Mar released their self-titled debut album in Denmark on CMC Records. They've created new modern versions of classic hit songs such as David Bowie's "Let's Dance", "How Will I Know" by Whitney Houston, Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" or "Too Much Heaven" by the Bee Gees. As stated in an official press release Sha Li Mar selected the songs for the album themselves. They added their flavour and personalities to the songs that...

Unfortunately Sha Li Mar disbanded after their Denmark tour to pursue individual
careers, but this
paved the way for three talented ladies to become successful solo artists: Christina released
an album and has been writing songs for many singers, Engelina has worked with Kylie
Minogue and Funkstar De Luxe and Ida -
well you can see on this site how successful she became as an solo artist. ;)
